I recently got this awesome gig where I go to a preschool and teach the kids private piano lessons. The school is located in a gorgeous home with a piano room that has giant windows. After spending my undergrad teaching in windowless practice rooms I have truly learned to appreciate them.
I am teaching four kids now in between the ages of 3-5. It is so incredibly challenging, but SO rewarding. They absolutely love the singing and dancing, except for Joe who sticks to smacking Mozart mouse and Beethoven bear on the piano keys over and over. I try to emphasize how good his forte sounds are as an attempt to teach him something.
So now, two hours later I am humming "the first finger on our left hand is Mr. Thumbkin..." and trying not to put both my hands on my knees and cheerfully raising my eyebrows as I speak to adults. I don't know how preschool teachers don't walk around communicating on a the same level as a five year old.

Gooseberry Mesa
On our last day we decided to check out the infamous Gooseberry Mesa hike. Siri took us right to the Mesa...but at the entirely wrong angle. We made the best of the situation and explored anyway. I'm pretty sure cars passing by thought we were nutso.

Hurricane Bike Shop
After running into some bikers (well more like stalking them until we conveniently ran into each other) we asked where they just were and how they got there. They described a mountain bikers paradise then guided us to this bike shop.

This trip was absolutely incredible. I feel bad for all those people out there who have no idea what it's like to have the worlds most hard core, adventure seeking, endlessly energetic, and wise mom. I hope to be just like her when I grow up.
